ROTARY CLUB OF MIDTOWN QUEZON CITY PROFILE

The Rotary Club of Midtown Quezon City (RCMQC) was chartered by Rotary International (RI) on June 28, 1984. It was sponsored by the Rotary Club of Quezon City.                                                  .

Appointed on April 11, 1984 by Rotary International District 3780 Gov. Miguel V. Ampil as the District Governor's Special Representatives to organize the new club were President Godofredo C. Camacho of the Rotary Club of Quezon City and Past President Mon Hechanova. The club was organized and chartered in record time. The charter application was sent to Rotary International on June 24, 1984 and four days later the club charter was approved.

The Charter Presentation and Induction of Charter Officers and Members were held on November 17, 1984 at the Manila Film Center to coincide with the 1984 Asia Institute of Rotary International. RI Past President Rolf Klarich of Finland presented the Charter to the club while RI Director for Asia Manohar L. Manchada of India inducted the members. District Governor Filemon Mendoza inducted the officers.

The Charter Officers were Godofredo C. Camacho, President; Alberto S. Javier, VP and Pres.-Elect; Reynaldo O. Navarro, Secretary and Club Service I Director; Conrado Infortuno, Treasurer; Cesar T. Olvina, Club Service II Director; Eduardo R. Enriquez, Jr., Community Service Director; Gregorio V. Tongko, Vocational Service Director; and Michael C. Ampil, International Service Director.

During the 1990's, RCMQC was known in the district for its successful bazaar fund raising activities. It was also known in the district for helping finance with the other Rotary Clubs the construction of the Rotary District 3780 center.

On June 28th of 2005, the Rotary Club of Midtown Quezon City was again re-chartered by Rotary International. Its original name was retained in memory of the many contributions the Club has given to the District.

From 2006 to 2014, the club partnered with the Kabayan Foundation, and together with the Office of the Vice President and the Department of Education, launched the VP Noli de Castro Awards - a nationwide search for the ten most outstanding public high school students (TOPS). The awardees were honored in Malacañang and given free college scholarships.

RCMQC is the biggest and the most vibrant club in District 3780 for R.Y. 2017 – 2018. Presently, RCMQC is continually implementing the WASH project, Lakbay Tsinelas, Brigada Eskwela, Medical, Dental & Optical Mission, Scholarship Program, End Polio Zumba Tour, vocational projects and END-TB program and other projects in aid of its partner schools, communities, and barangay, which also corresponds to the six areas of focus.

The Kandama Project is RCMQC’s flagship project for RY 2017-2018. The club partners with Kandama, a social enterprise which supports local indigenous women of Julongan Village in Kiangan, Ifugao, and their crafts by starting an association of weavers to help promote their products. Through this, RCMQC is able to help resolve the predicament of families leaving the village to find better means of earning. By providing machineries and equipment to develop their products, not only were the indigenous women able to produce locally-woven fabrics at a much faster rate, but they are also able to teach their children the art of weaving.

Under TGP Sarah P. Deloraya-Mateos leadership RCMQC mission is to build a strong and effective Rotary Club: render greater humanitarian and other service projects, increase membership, support the Rotary Foundation, enhance public image and develop future leaders.

RCMQC is now a club of happily active, creatively loving people - leading to serve, inspiring to share and fulfilling the journey towards greatness by improving the lives and by making a difference in the communities it serves.
